Jóhannes Örn Jónsson (Örn frá Steðja) born in Árnes in Tungusveit in Skagafjörður on October 1, 1892, died on October 15, 1960. His parents were Jón Jóhannesson and Ólína Ólafsdóttir. Jóhannes was married to Sigríður Ágústsdóttir (b. June 18, 1908, d. September 30, 1988) from Kjós in Trékyllisvík, sister of Professor Símon Jóhannes Ágústsson. Jóhannes and Sigríður lived in Fagranes in Öxnadalur from 1930 to 1934, but then moved to Néðstaland in Öxnadalur and lived there for one year until 1935 and moved to Steðja in Þelamörk and lived there until 1960. From there they moved to Akureyri.
Jóhannes was a great folklorist and collector of folk tales. He published the books, Sagnablúð and Sagnablúð hin neði. He was also a good hagððingur.
Jóhannes and Sigríður had four children, including Ævar Jón Forna, who was an inventor and has worked until now at the Icelandic Energy Research Institute and is known for the lupine extract that he fought to have approved as an anticancer drug.
