Sat sapienti. A visual game in three doors. By Valdemar Poulsen.
Valdemar Poulsen. He was born in Havn in 1909, the son of Vilhelm S. Poulsen. Valdemar learned the second lesson that Havnar School had to offer, one thing that would not go far, one could not build an omaná and widen one's horizons on one's own. This was enough for Valdemar and from a young age he read a lot, Faroese as well as world literature.
When he was young, he apprenticed as a craftsman, spent one shift in Denmark, then came back home and sat down to cut some hair in the capital. In this job, which he started a short time ago, Valdemar came to meet a group of people, a reality that perhaps was there to make him a great human teacher and a devoted soul illuminator, which his poetry shows.
Valdemar's first major poetic work is the visual play »Sat sapientk, which was performed for the first time in the spring of 1958. The title is foreign, and that is also the context in which the play takes place. On an abandoned iron transformer farm, we meet Jeremias, a lonely young talented artist, one of the last of his enemies, who is expelled from the art school where he sought his training. Now he lives a miserable existence, so to speak, when a journalist comes across him, hears his life story and tries to restore this needy man. While Jeremias pours milk over his soup plate, the reporter gets an idea; he freezes the soup plate and shows it some works of art at the big stall under the name »Sat sapienti« - enough for ten people. The work of art is widely discussed in newspapers and on the radio, art critics vie to pay tribute to Jeremias, until the end of his head is almost filled with luster and it shatters.
Foreign name, foreign environment, but the material is universal, it will be taken for repair. The question about the truth or the lie about modern art, the questions about paid art critics, the questions about the emperor's new clothes.
