Gísli Jónsson was born in 1820 in Rauðbarðaholt and was a farmer for most of his life in Saurum in Laxárdalur. He was married, but had many stepmothers, but is best known for numerous lawsuits of varying degrees of complexity. Gísli moved to the West in 1876 and died there in 1894, at the age of 74.
