Snorri the Seal. Illustrated fairy tales for children and young people. By Frithjof Sælen. Translated by Vilbergur Júlíusson.
In the book's preface, Vilbergur Júlíusson talks about the book and its influence. It says "This book was first published in Norway in the fall of 1941. A month later it was banned by the Germans. From this ban and the book, one can see, if one looks closely, what the spiritual state of the master nation was at this time and what the occupying nation thought of the so-called Kvislings and their activities. The satire is, however, so cleverly placed that it is hardly noticeable unless the reader knows all the circumstances.
The book is of course very popular in Norway. After the war, the remaining edition was released, and it sold out immediately, as did the 2nd and 3rd editions.
The book has also been published in Sweden and elsewhere."
