The poet from Elivogur and other people. Recorded by Rósberg G. Snædal.
"The departure of Sveinn and Elín from Sneis came suddenly and in a somewhat historical manner. In the middle of the meadow, he was visited at night by three drunken men. One of them made some unruly noise, went to the bathroom window, sent a message inside and wanted Sveinn to go to the door and open the door. Sveinn did not dare to do anything about it and did not move, but the housewife Elín met the newcomer at the window and had a word with him. Now the stories do not agree about what happened next, but the window post was broken and the window was all broken. The two of them rode as quickly as possible down to Geitaskarður in Langa-dalur and from there they called the sheriff, Guðbrandur ísberg in Blönduós. A trial was then held in this case, but the testimony of the witnesses did not agree. The couple said that the newcomer had broken the window and made the worst threats, but he flatly denied it. His fellow riders said they had not seen him at the window and did not know what had happened, because they had been behind the house for some time. The matter was then dropped. But Sveinn did not feel safe on Sneis after this from the jealous and tyrannical men who might have been after his life. He therefore got up as quickly as he could and moved with his family and luggage from Sneis and out to Skagastrandarkaupstaður.
