The poet is a scribbler - O poeta é um fingidor - On the life and poetry of Fernando Pessoa. By Guðberg Bergsson.
The Portuguese writer Fernando Pessoa (1888–1935) is one of the pillars of cultural discourse in the twentieth century. He was a poet, critic, philosopher and translator, but for a long time people did not know how to take his words, who spoke at each time, because he did not always write under his own name. He created countless different poets in his mind and wrote for them, the most important of which were Alberto Caeiro, Alvaro de Campos and Ricardo Reis. Guðbergur Bergsson translates with singular brilliance the bulk of Pessoa's poetry collection – describing his upbringing and main influences and also explaining the background that shaped the poet.

Guðbergur Bergsson has translated many of the major contemporary masterpieces. He has published novels, poems, children's books, and literary biographies, and has had an immeasurable influence on the literature of our time. He has received numerous awards for his writing, including the Icelandic Literature Prize twice.
