The Ship Sinks. A play in four acts by Indriði Einarsson.
The Ship Sinking premiered on February 13, 1903 at the Reykjavík Theatre Company, which performed the work 9 times. This was the first play that the Reykjavík Theatre Company performed. The play was still running to a full house when a major shipwreck occurred in Faxaflói Bay, and performances were then suspended, as it was not considered appropriate to continue them. The play featured original Icelandic music for the company for the first time, but from then on the stage became one of the main venues for Icelandic composers.
