Einar Þorkelsson (11 June 1867 – 27 June 1945) was an Icelandic writer, editor and secretary of the Althingi. His best-known work is Ferfætlingar, a collection of animal stories published in 1926. Einar was one of the founders of the Hafnarfjörður Animal Protection Society and editor of Dýraverndarnan in 1929. He was secretary of the Althingi from 1914 to 1922 and lived in the Althingi House with his second wife, Ólafía Guðmundsdóttir, from 1918 to 1923. This is the only example of a resident in the house. They had two boys while living there.
Einar was the brother of Jón Þorkelsson, the national archivist, the father of Dr. Ólafíu Einarsdóttir, the archaeologist, and Björg Einarsdóttir, the writer, and the grandfather of Lúðvík Kristjánsson, the historian.
