Written in the Clouds I-III. Pilot Jóhannes Snorrason tells of his eventful life.
Jóhannes studied flying in Canada with the Canadian Air Force. He began working for Icelandic Airlines in 1943 and worked as a commercial pilot until 1980 when he retired due to age.


He was a chief flight officer throughout his career, first with Icelandair and later with Flugleidir.


Jóhannes was one of the founders of the Icelandic Commercial Pilots Association and its first chairman. He served for a long time on the Civil Aviation Authority and the Accident Investigation Board. In addition, he held various positions of trust during his career. Jóhannes wrote his memoirs, Skrivað í skýin, which were published in three volumes. Jóhannes was awarded the Knight's Cross, as well as the Grand Knight's Cross of the Icelandic Order of the Falcon for his work in aviation. He was also awarded the Danish Order of the Dannebrog for his contribution to Greenland's transportation, and he was a long-time pilot of ski planes that served Greenlanders.
