Ólafur Björgvin Jónsson (1895-1980), managing director and agricultural consultant, worked most of his working life at the Akureyri Agricultural Research Center. In parallel with his work there, he began to make trips to Ódáðahraun, at first more for spiritual upliftment but later these became targeted exploration and research trips. The result was the collection of writings Ódáðahraun in three volumes, which was published in 1945. More than a decade later or in 1957, another collection of writings, Skriðuföll og snjóflód in two volumes, was published. The publication is largely the result of a thorough source research where Ólafur went through chronicles, magazines and newspapers and wrote down everything related to landslides and avalanches. In addition, he spoke to people who remembered such phenomena and traveled around the country and examined the site.
