Skyggni. From the tomb of Jón Norðmann in Selnes. Published by Þorsteinn Antonsson

The book is a biography of the farmer and children's teacher Jón Norðmann in Selnes on the Skaga Peninsula, with a special emphasis on his clairvoyance. Jón was born shortly before the turn of the century and died in 1976. The book contains examples of Jón's storytelling, including chapters from his unpublished autobiography about his childhood, accounts of his clairvoyance and that of his family, based on interviews and written sources by Jón himself and others. The editor draws vivid pictures of human life on the Skaga Peninsula during Jón's farming years, describes events of regional and national history with reference to Jón's life in Skagafjörður and Reykjavík. The book is an attempt to take a step further in discussing a classic topic of interest for Icelanders, spiritualism; finding a place for belief in alien life forces among modern studies.
