There is also a special section on national lore and popular storytelling in the 19th and 20th centuries, where this popular literature is thoroughly explained. This volume then concludes with a very detailed survey of Icelandic storytelling from World War II until around 1960, examining the works of the writers who have had the greatest influence on Icelandic literature – but also discussing children's books and other works, some of which have undeservedly fallen into the shadows.
