Icelandic Literature and Worldview. A collection of essays by Grím Thomsen. Translated and published by Andrés Björnsson.
The publication of Grímur Thomsen's essays on Icelandic literature and worldview is an event in the Icelandic book market.
Grímur Thomsen is the first Icelander to devote special attention to the history of contemporary European literature at Hafnarfjörður University. Between 1946 and 1957 he wrote several articles on Icelandic literature, especially ancient poetry, in Danish newspapers and magazines, and he translated and published two sample books of Icelandic history writing in Danish.
Grímur Thomsen is among the pioneers of Icelandic literary studies. His essays also shed light on his own outlook on life, thus explaining various aspects of his later poetry.
Andrés Björnsson, who has devoted the most attention to the poetry of Grím Thomsen, has translated the essays from Danish and is writing a preface to this edition. (Cover text).
