Kristján Linnet was the town bailiff in the Vestmannaeyjar Islands from 1924 to 1940. Kristján was born on February 1, 1881. His parents were Hans Dithlev Linnet, an accountant in Hafnarfjörður, and Gróa Jónsdóttir from Vallarhús in Grindavík.
Kristján became a student in Reykjavík in 1899 and a cand. juris from the University of Copenhagen in 1907. He was appointed police chief in Siglufjörður in the summers of 1909 and 1910 and later appointed sheriff in Dalasýsla in 1915 and later in Mýra- and Borgarfjörður from 1917 to 1918. Kristján was appointed sheriff in Skagafjörður in 1918. He was then appointed bailiff in the Vestmannaeyjar Islands in 1924.
