In 1938 and 1939, two volumes of Sóg og segnum úr Vestmannaeyjar, collected by Jóhann Gunnar Ólafsson, were published. These volumes sold out quickly, as their circulation must have been limited. It was therefore decided to reprint these sagas, and here, in this book, you will find all the sagas that were in the two volumes, except that some of the poetry that was in the second volume has been omitted. However, a few minor elements have been added, and this edition also includes an extensive index of names, which was not included in the first edition of the sagas.
