The Pisan Cantos are considered a masterpiece of Western poetic literature and are considered by many to be the culmination of Ezra Pound's great life work, which he called Cantos. In a US prison camp in Italy in 1945, accused of treason and facing the death penalty, Pound reconstructs his life and reads fragments of it together with the ruins of Europe as well as with flashes of past history and the mythological core that he considered imperishable.
