Petra Sveinsdóttir in Stöðvarfjörður has long been known around the world for the largest private rock collection in the world. She began collecting rocks in 1946 and opened her house and garden to visitors and pedestrians in 1974 because everyone wanted to see the treasures. The museum's visitors number in the hundreds of thousands and many describe the place as heaven and Petra as one of the cornerstones of the nation. In the book, Steina-Petra tells of her relationship with nature and her life. The book is adorned with around 200 unique pictures of rocks. (Bókatíðindi 2011).
