Bragi Sigurjónsson was born in Einarsstaðir and raised in Litlulaugar in Reykjadalur, but lived in Akureyri for most of his life. There he worked as a poet, writer, journalist and was an active politician.
He was the editor of Alþýðumannins and the magazine Stíganda. He collected material for and published Göngur og réttir.
He was for a long time the director of Útvegsbankinn in Akureyri and a member of the town council there, later a member of the Althingi and most recently a minister for the Icelandic People's Party.
