Sleep. By Erla Björnsdóttir.
Sleep is one of the foundations of health, along with nutrition and exercise. Sleep problems are common in today's fast-paced society, but irregular sleep habits and lack of sleep can have a variety of effects on physical and mental health. This book discusses sleep from various perspectives, explains what happens during sleep, and discusses common sleep problems among children, adolescents, and adults.
Dr. Erla Björnsdóttir completed a BA in psychology from the University of Iceland in 2007, a PhD from Aarhus University in 2009, and a PhD in life and medical sciences from the University of Iceland in 2015. Erla has specialized in cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (HAM-S) and works on research in that field with colleagues in Europe and the United States.
