This is how Hafliði sailed to Svefneyjar. A draft of a biography. Compiled and written by Bergsveinn Skúlason.
Hafliði in Svefneyjar was a legendary figure in his lifetime. He stood on an equal footing with men such as Ólafur Sívertsen, Brynjólf Benediktsen merchant, Ólafur Guðmundsson from Bár, Sigurður in Hólsbúð, Jón merchant Guðmundsson and Guðmundur Schefing sheriff, but they all lived in Flatey, the capital of the islands, as well as Þórarinn Þorláksson in Látrum, Pétur Steinsson in Skáleyjar, Ólafur Teitsson in Sviðn, Kristján Jónsson in Hergilsey, but these are more or less relevant to the story in this book.
Countless stories circulated in Breiðafjörður about Hafliði in Svefneyjar, telling of his manliness, sharpness, hardiness, and luck in sea voyages.
The book tells of a shipwreck that Hafliði was involved in and one rescue mission that he was able to pull off. Both describe the man very well.
A number of pictures adorn the book. (Cover text).
