Kristín's drawings from Keldum are a significant source of Icelandic folk art. In the late 1950s, when the old turf farm community was on the decline, Kristín Skúladóttir (1905-1995) set about drawing the objects and structures of the old community as they appeared in her childhood home. This was done at the instigation of her father Skúli, who was exceptionally meticulous and a great enthusiast for objects of the old times. In Keldum, there was and still is an unusually well-preserved collection of houses, tools and small objects from the past. The oldest of all of these is the ancient hut in Keldum, which is pictured here on the book cover. It dates back to the time of the National Socialist era. All of this was later donated to the nation and is now preserved by the National Museum and the Forest Museum. In this book, Keldnagripir appears in the folk artist's close-up drawings.
