Under the sky of wilderness. Poem by Gest Guðfinnsson.

Gestur Guðfinnsson was a farmer in Litla-Galtardalur and Ormsstaðir from 1936 to 1943. He then moved to Reykjavík and worked for Alþýðublaðið, as a sales manager and later as a journalist and proofreader. He was also an active member of the Icelandic Travel Association and the Breiðfjörður Travel Association.

He published the poetry collections Þenkingar (Thoughts) in 1952, Lék ég mér í túni (I Played in the Field) in 1955, Undir vevi fjalli (Under the Mountain) in 1976, Hundrað skopkvæði (A Hundred Jokes) in 1977, and Undir Öræfahimni (Under the Song of the Mountains) in 1978. In addition, he wrote for about 10 years in Alþýðublaðið under the pseudonym Lómur.

In addition to poetry, he wrote numerous articles in magazines and the Icelandic Travel Association's 1961 Yearbook about Þórsmörk.
