UMF Baldur in Hraungerðishreppur.
The Baldur Youth Association in Hraungerðishreppur was founded on June 8, 1908.
For several years, alcoholism had been quite prevalent in the district and was considered by many to be a bad thing. The bill provided for a total abstinence pledge, but several members of the meeting were completely opposed to it. The meeting then became divided. Several wanted to approve the bill with the abstinence pledge, and they turned out to be the majority. The others, who did not want abstinence, walked out of the meeting and very few of them ever joined the association. This is mentioned here because this incident will be one of the most successful that this association has ever had.
In all the years that have passed since then, it can be said that not a drunk person has been seen here.
