Filippía Sigurlaug Kristjánsdóttir, better known as Hugrún the poet, was born on October 3, 1905 in Skriða in Svarfaðardalur. Her parents were Kristján Tryggvi Sigurjónsson, a farmer at Skriða and Brautarhól in Svarfaðardalur, and his wife Kristín Sigfúsína Kristjánsdóttir. Filippía/Hugrún is the author of at least 29 works, mostly poetry and children's books, but also a few novels and childhood memoirs. (www.skald.is)
