Vafurlogar. Poem by Pétur Jakobsson.
In Morgunblaðið on March 24, 1996, an interview with Pétur Jakobsson was published. (The interview is of course old, as it was published in 1996. Pétur died in 1958). But in it Pétur says, among other things; -"I was once an editor," said Pétur. "Yes, and the editor too. The paper was called Láki and was published in 1919. - Then it happened that the boys came to me, Kiljan, Tómas, Sigurður Grímsson and a few others, and asked me to edit a paper for them. I couldn't get away with it, even though I didn't get anything for it, but fortunately only two issues of Láki were published. After all, he was completely insignificant. I think Kiljan and Siggi Gríms wrote for him mainly, but Tómas didn't have time for that. Then Láki died the death of the righteous - and since then I have never been an editor. But now Láki has "resurrected", become unavailable and has become a fortune - like those who wrote for him in his time. - Otherwise, I am Kiljan's first teacher and of course laid the foundation for him to become a Nobel Prize-winning author. I taught in Mosfellssveit at the time and his parents lived there in Laxnes. When Kiljan was with me, he was on "12 years old, but made such good styles that he was the equivalent of a twenty-year-old."
