Vatnajökull. Frost and funi. Text by Ari Trausti Guðmundsson and Photos by Ragnar Th. Sigurðsson.
Vatnajökull – frost and funi is an interesting and well-written description of Vatnajökull, one of the main gems of Icelandic nature. Half of it is devoted to the volcanic activity in the glacier, especially the spectacular eruption of 1996 and the largest Skeiðaráhlaup of the century. The other part of the book deals with the fairy-tale world of Vatnajökull and its immediate surroundings. The book is adorned with 50 beautiful and descriptive pictures by Ragnar Th. Sigurðsson. The text is written by Ari Trausti Guðmundsson, who is well known from radio, television and from the writing field. Many will remember his trip in a group of four people down to the ice cauldron, on the volcanic island, the day before the eruption. (Cover text).
