Time Machines. A novel by Pétur Gunnarsson.
At the beginning of the 15th century, the Black Death has decimated the country's population, leaving less than half of the nation alive. The young man Nathan is the only remaining monk of Þykkvabæjarklaustur. In the course of the story, Nathan embarks on a famous journey with Björn Jórsalafar to Jerusalem. At the same time, the book explores the minds of the people through the literature of the period. At the same time, as in the previous books in the series, the present is explored in the mirror of the past, and vice versa.

The third book in Pétur's original and ambitious collection of stories, which he calls The Icelandic Novel. The previous books, Myndin af Íslands and Leiðin til Rómar, were both nominated for the Icelandic Literature Prize.
