Halldóra B. Björnsson was born in Litli Botn on Hvalfjörður shore in 1907, the daughter of Helga Pétursdóttir and Beintein Einarsson. Halldóra was the second oldest of eight siblings who grew up in Grafardalur.
Halldóra worked extensively in social affairs, she was one of the founders of the Icelandic Women's Cultural and Peace Association and she sat on the board of the Icelandic Writers' Association. She was also heavily involved in the anti-occupation organizations, as well as many other things. Halldóra wrote articles on various issues related to her writing and political interests.
