The Wonder of Viðfjörður. Written by Þórbergur Þórðarson.
Viðfjörður is the southernmost of the fjords that run south from Norðfjörður Bay. There is a deserted farm from 1955 and a popular stopover for tourists, who rush by boat from Neskaupstaður to enjoy the wonderful surroundings. The farm in Viðfjörður was haunted for centuries and up until the mid-20th century, when the ghosts walked around in bright lights and were dangerous to people. They were blamed for the drowning of three brothers while rowing in the autumn of 1936.
Before the farm was abandoned, the same family had lived on the farm since around 1750.
