Jón frá Pálmholti, writer, was born on May 25, 1930 in Pálmholti in Eyjafjörður. He graduated from the district school in Laugar in 1954, studied at the Icelandic Teachers' College from 1955-1957 and also studied at the Reykjavík Educational Service and the Social Studies School of the People. Jón was a children's teacher from 1955-1957 and worked various jobs alongside his writing from 1957-1979. He was an employee of the Reykjavík Social Services Agency from 1979-1989, chairman of the Tenants' Association from 1978-1985 and 1989-2001, served on the board of the Icelandic Writers' Association from 1962-1963 and 1971-1973 and on the board of the Ásatrúarfélagis from 1979-1988. Jón frá Pálmholti was one of the founding members of the Icelandic Writers' Association.
Jón's main books of poetry are: Days to Come 1958, The City's Hands Are Cold 1961, The Flowers by the Sidewalk 1967, Under the Hammer 1973, The Wind Never Rests 1978, The Smile in the Eyes of the Birds 1992, The Eternal Present 1994, And Silence Can Sing 2000 and A Song in the Sea of ​​Man 2004.
