Rev. Friðrik J. Bergmann is concerned about religious apathy and public indifference. He urges believers to action. Regarding the abolition of the national church, Friðrik says: "There are not a hundred in danger, even if the national church is abolished. The free church will take its place and it is much more preferable. With it, a new religious age would dawn, new life and enthusiasm would be brought into the nation in matters of religion.
"It may be, but I find it incredibly unlikely. I think it is far more likely that in large areas there would be no church at all. People would be glad to be free and would feel no worse off than before. It would hardly be noticeable that any spiritual strength had been lost."
