Help yourself, and the Lord will help you,
I heard the priest say that inside my barn.
So many others have this strange custom,
to help those who don't need any help.
And then comes the deacon, and he deserves praise,
With a solemn and majestic expression he steps out into the stable,
and asks me to help pay, "don't you see",
The bank has a very small debt, which God has entered into.
