Verses by Þura í Garður.

Þura was the daughter of Árni Jónsson, a farmer in Garður, and his wife Guðbjörg Stefánsdóttir. – Þura was unmarried and childless, always had a home in Garður but worked in many places, including in the Lystigarður in Akureyri. She dabbled in genealogy and published Skútustaðaættina (the genealogy of Helgi Ásmundsson in Skútustaður) in 1951. Þura's poems became popular and many people sent her messages in a limited language. She was humorous and knew how to make fun of herself very well.

Oh, how dull and dead it is here,

ghost haven!

The western bed is always empty,

no winter man.
