Völuspá is the most famous poem in Norse literature, written in Iceland around the year 1000. It describes the pagan ideas about the creation of the world and the fate of gods and humans, their prosperity in a golden age, destruction in the Ragnarök and later a new resurrection. Here is the poem in a new edition by Helgi Hálfdanarson, who, by adjusting the order of three themes, makes most of what is difficult to understand in the manuscript text clear and easy to understand.
