The anniversary publication Yrkja was published in honor of Mrs. Vigdís Finnbogadóttir, former President, on her sixtieth birthday. More than fifty poets, writers, artists and scholars wrote in the publication on a wide variety of topics. All Icelanders will be given the opportunity to subscribe to the publication and at the same time sign up for a wish list that will be delivered to the President with the first copy of Yrkja. Proceeds from the sale of the book were placed in a fund, which, at the request of the President of Iceland, was given to Icelandic youth and was used to purchase tree seedlings for all primary school children in the country every spring.
